Striving to humbly serve...
East Baptist Church is blessed with a rich history. Since its humble beginnings under the auspices of the NC Baptist Convention in 1969, East has become a vital part of the local fabric, and is the spiritual home to generations of families.
From its informal birth at McClintock Jr High School on August 19, 1967, through its first service held on August 24th, 1967, through today, EBC has grown with Charlotte, and has become a historical marker of the city.
Reverend Frank Moore served as the founding pastor of EBC, and our first set of ordained deacons were Ed Griffin, Vance Baker, Clyde Luther, Robert Carrigan, Ted Bowers, Cecil Greene, Grover Nash, Roy Alexander, JL Swofford, Lamar Bell, Tommy Keels and Tracy Swofford.
In the light of the Lord's leading and believing that the Holy Spirit is guiding us in this work, I move that this body be constituted as the East Baptist Church, adopting the Covenant and Articles of Faith as held by Baptist congregations (set forth in Hobbs Pastor's Manual).
I further move that this church cooperate fully with Meclenburg Baptist Association, the North Carolina State Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, and those desiring to become a part of this body shall answer "yes" to the calling of their names from the commitment cards previously submitted, and any other baptized believers present who desire to join may indicate their wishes after the roll call.
